it's not easy to determine the best gear for druids because every druid is a little different. what works well for a resto druid won't be nearly as good for a feral. the resto druid who prefers int won't want the same gear as one who prefers +heal or one who likes mana/5. since our primary function in mc is to heal, this guide is going to focus on gear that helps with healing. if you want fr gear for other stats, you might wanna take a peek at some other class guides.

the goal for druids (as healers) is 150 unbuffed fire resist. ideally, you want 150 fr and solid stats as well. you could deck yourself out in nothing but fr gear and have 300 fr but essentially be useless because you have a mana pool of 100 and 110 hitpoints--not good. it's a balancing act and as you get new gear, you want to evaluate what each piece gives in terms of fr and in terms of stats so you are always getting the most bang for your buck so to speak.

enchants

there's no reason to not have these fr enchants on your gear. with these relatively easy to get enchants, you can get a third of the minimum goal with absolutely no fr gear at all. use these--they help! best of all, the enchants to head, shoulders and legs are pieces you can't normally enchant so you aren't losing anything by getting them.

you can add +20 fr to a head AND leg slot by getting libram of resilience twice. the books can be found on the ah or you can farm for them (brd seems a good place but they drop in a lot of spots). once you have the book, you need a black diamond (ah or brd), 4 crystal spire (turn in power crystals in ungoro), a burning essence (from the dark coffer in brd) and 30 gold. this is money and time well spent--particularly if you have nice gear to put it on!

flame mantle of the dawn adds 5 fr to a shoulder piece. you need to be revered and turn in 10 valor tokens to be able to purchase these but after that you can get them for 9 gold from then on, so even if you get new shoulders, you can add the enchant without much trouble. the chromatic mantle of the dawnis even better as it provides +5 to all magic resists on a shoulder item but requires exalted rep and 25 valor tokens to get.

on your cloak, you can get greater resistance (2 lesser eternal essence, 1 heart of fire, 1 core of earth, 1 globe of water, 1 breath of wind, 1 ichor of undeath) which adds +5 to all resists or enchant cloak - fire resistance (1 lesser mystic essence, 1 elemental fire) which gives 7 fr. there is also the enchant cloak - greater fire reistance but the mats (3 nexus crystal, 8 large brilliant shard, 4 essence of fire) make this a very expensive enchant. for what amounts to 8 extra fr, i don't think the greater is really worth it unless you can easily afford it.

helms

the felhide cap has 8 fr and stats that are more in line with a feral druid or rogue, but if you need fr--there's 8 there. it's relatively easy to get from dm east and can be farmed. it drops from lethendris and can be done as a stealth run with a couple of druids or rogues without any trouble at all.

tribal war feathers of fire resistance has 14-15 fr and good stats for healing but is a little more difficult to obtain. this drops in ubrs from gyth (rend's mount) so it's more difficult to farm and with a 10 man group you may find yourself competing for it.

the molten helm is crafted from mc mats and has 29 fr, which is the most fr on any leather helm. the 16 stamina on it is also nice, but the lack of int or +heal makes it less attractive for healers. from mc, the cenarion helm comes with 10 fr.

shoulders

magister kalendris in dire maul west drops flamescarred shoulders which offers 10 fr. the stats are more for feral druids or rogues, but again, not a real difficult piece to farm for.

the volcanic shoulders are crafted and give 18 fr but no stats. i believe we have a couple of leatherworkers with this pattern and if you supply them with 10x Rugged Leather, 1x Essence of Fire, 1x Essence of Earth, 2x Rune Thread you can score a nice bit of fr for very little effort.

there are some nice atal'ai spaulders of fire resistance to be found in sunken temple off the 6 mini troll bosses. they give 19-20 fire resist, but not only do you have to hope they drop, you have to hope you get "of fire resistance" as well. so not bad to try for if you are bored or helping others in st out, but might be a touch out of the way to actually farm if you no longer need st for other things.

from mc, the best shoulder fr piece is fireguard shoulders with 22 fr.

chests

cow king's hide is a nice resist piece but that's about all it really offers. it gives 10 resist to fire, nature, shadow, arcane and frost so will help out with any resist gear set. it's a world drop that can be found in lots of places (including the ah). i've seen it drop several times in lbrs and ubrs.

pyromancer loregrain in brd drops flamestrider robes which offers 10 fr and really nice stats for a healer. until you get cenarion vestaments out of mc (10 fr), i think this is the best chest for a healing druid needing fr.

the volcanic breastplate has the most fr for a chest at 20 but no other stats. it's a crafted piece so if you can't find a dropped piece you can have this made for 8x Rugged Leather, 1x Essence of Fire, 1x Essence of Earth, 1x Rune Thread.

bracers

the cinderhide armsplints from lord incendius in brd offer 10 fr and a random enchant. relatively easy to farm for, these are decent and can be really nice if you happen to get a set that also helps your other stats.

if you are going to be in sunken temple, darkwater bracers of fire resistance provide 14-15 fr. like the shoulders from there though, you are relying on not only the bracers dropping, but the bracers dropping with a fire resist enchant.

gloves

bloodfire talons are a great choice for fr gloves. they provide 10 fr and nice stats for healings. if you really want fr gloves prior to getting the cenarion gloves the bloodfire talons are nice.

the only other pre-raiding option for gloves with fr are the slaghide gauntlets of fire resistance in lbrs from urok doomhowl (the ogre head and pike event you do just past the spiders). they'll give you 21-22 fr which is nice, but no other stats.

belts

maleki pallid in strat dead drops the flamescarred girdle which offers 20 fr but no stats. this is the only belt choice i'm aware of that drops outside of mc. once you are hitting up mc, the cenarion belt will give you 7 fr.

there are two crafted belts that use mc mats and offer fr. with 26 fr, the lava belt provides max fr for the spot. however, the corehound belt offers 12 fr and +62 healing in addition to a bit of int making it a loop of zomghawtness to wrap around your waist.

pants

not many choices here, outside of mc you can get 20 fr by having volcanic leggings crafted (6x Rugged Leather, 1x Essence of Fire, 1x Core of Earth, 1x Rune Thread). inside mc you can get salamander scale pants with 10 fr and amazing healing stats.

boots

hurley blackbreath in brd (he's the one who spawns when you break the kegs in the bar) drops coal miner boots which give 10 fr. the other stats aren't that great, but these are easy to farm and can be done on stealth runs while in brd for other things.

the corehound boots are crafted using mats from mc, the 24 fr is great but the other stats aren't really suited for healing.

cloaks

there are several cloak options for fire resist, the cape of the fire salamander (ambassador flamelash in brd) provides 12 fr and drops frequently. another frequent drop that has the best fr for a cloak is the wildfire cape with 20 fr from pyroguard emberseer in ubrs.

the chromatic cloak is a crafted option with 9 fr (30x Rugged Leather, 12x Brilliant Chromatic Scale, 30x Black Dragonscale, 30x Red Dragonscale, 5x Cured Rugged Hide, 8x Rune Thread). another crafted option is onyxia scale cloak(persimmon can craft) with 16 fr (1x Scale of Onyxia, 1x Cindercloth Cloak, 1x Rune Thread).

inside mc, the fireproof cloak becomes an option and offers 16 fr.

necklaces

the best neck piece for fr is the drakefire amulet which offers 15 fr plus lets you into onyxia's lair. this is a quest reward and everyone should have it!

if you can afford a little less fr on your necklace in order to pick up some healer stats, elder magus pendant offers 10 fr and can be found in dire maul west from magister kalendris.

lesser options for neck pieces are the emberfury talisman with 7 fr from pyroguard emberseer in ubrs and necklace of sanctuary which is a reward from a very long quest line and offers 10 fr.

trinkets

the druid class trinket, royal seal of eldre'thalas offers 10 fr and some nice plus healing making it wonderful for us. you get it by turning in the emerald dream at the library in dire maul. the emerald dream is a book you can purchase from the ah or farm for (drops in dire maul).

ward of the elements is a quest reward you get from doing jailbreak (the onyxia chain--the one you also need to do to get the necklace!). it offers 8 resist to fire as well as arcane, nature, frost and shadow which makes it an all-around nice resist piece.

the blazing emblem is a low level boe world drop that provides 15 fr. it's not unique so you could have two of them if you wanted. for those who wouldn't buy it in the ah, hard to say where to farm for it since it drops from a large variety of spots but since it's a level 38 item, i'd suggest mobs in the upper 30's to low/mid 40's.

enchanters can create a bind on pickup smoking heart of the mountain (1x Blood of the Mountain, 1x Essence of Fire, 3x Small Brilliant Shard) for 7 fr. it's unique though, so you only get one. but it also offers 7 resist to frost, shadow and nature damage making it a nice all-around resist piece.

engineers can create a hyper-radiant flame reflector (4x Dark Iron Bar, 3x Truesilver Transformer, 6x Essence of Water, 4x Star Ruby, 2x Azerothian Diamond) which offers 18 fr and is not unique (so you can use 2). it is bind on equip, so someone else can make it for you but you must have 290 engi to use it.

rings

tidal loop offers 15 fr and some nice stats for healers. this is a quest reward that comes from completing the hydraxion waterlords quest (duke hydraxis) in azshara. you must complete BOTH poisoned water (killing some water elementals in epl) and stormers and rumblers (killing some earth and air elementals in silithus) in order to get the mc quest chain that ends with getting the tidal loop and the water needed to douse the runes in mc so major domo can be spawned.

the seal of ascension is another quest reward that offers 10 resist to fire, nature and frost making it a good all-around resist piece. this is also the key to ubrs which makes it good to have even without the resists! you need 3 gems from lbrs (one from voone, one from omokk and one from wyrmthalak) and the drop rate is hit or miss--particularly in a large group where several people need them. my suggestion to druids--make friends with rogues and your fellow druids to stealth run lbrs to get everyone their key. 3 people can easily do all of the bosses (no need to kill anything else in the instance as you can stealth past it all).

drakeclaw band of fire resistance provides 19-20 fr and drops in sunken temple. like some other drops mentioned in this guide though, you not only need the ring to drop you also need it to have fire resistance as its random enchant.

dragonslayer's signet has 10 fr and isn't bad for a healer, you get it by turning in onyxia's head. in mc, seal of the archmagus offers 6 resist to fire, nature, frost, shadow and arcane as well as some other beneficial stats that make it a nice all-around resist piece for a healer.

there are also a host of other boe rings you will find in the ah and as random world drops that offer varying degrees of fire resist. they are often pricey if you look to buy them but you can find good deals if you are patient.
