MC Rogue Loot

http://www.wow-loot.com/raid_mc.htm

Spend a little time understanding what's available. :o) Basically, there are fist weapons, daggers, and swords. If you have a preference, understand it. There are a few ranged weapons to choose from. Rings drops occasionally. There are the set pieces. Bracers and belts are BOE and drop off trash. The rest comes from bosses.

There are a few surprises that pop up and are equipable by rogues. The Aged Core Leather Gloves come to mind. There are also some leather FR shoulders that I've seen. I won't tell you how to spend your DKP, but I will point out that this stuff his really hot for our feral druid friends who don't have the set pieces we do in MC.

Rogue Builds

Go here to spec your build. Copy the URL at the bottom and link it like I did here.

Docadus :: 17/7/26 (at lvl 59) Recently re-specced for more of a stunlock mode and having fun playing with it. I'll post more about my gear a little later.

Javert :: Imp sap makes me usefull in most instances. I love playing around with ambush and backstab. I have the 3 piece Tier 1 set
bonus that takes 30 seconds off my vanish cooldown and I use this spec to drive it even lower. I find that I tend to grab aggro easily from pug tanks, so I use the vanish frequently to manage aggro. Preparation drops the cooldowns if I'm in trouble.

Seanpile :: 20/31 Combat Dagger. I'm currently using a gutgore ripper and a brutality blade. In raids, the Gutgore goes in my mainhand and I spam backstab and slice and dice. In instances, the brutality blade goes in my mainhand and I can then spam Sinister Strike. Best of all, I can hit adrenaline rush and be in backstab heaven for 15 seconds. I think this is the best build suited for both raiding and grouping/soloing.

Kitti :: 16/25/10 A Combat Dagger spec that I am currently trying out. So far, I like this this build. Decent DPS output and good for raids.

Lucifelos :: 21/8/22 CB/Prep (Modified - 2 MoD, 4 Cam) Dagger spec. Yeah, I'm a PvP-addict so sue me =P. Eventhough my build isn't really commonly used in raids (well, combat daggers beat the crap outta it, but what I can I say?), I still do quite well if you compare in term of survivability. I'm still in the process of adjusting myself into the raiding (learning process, basicly) so I might not output the best dmg, I might not be in the top 10 of SW Stats or DM, but I'm quite sure I can learn fast and stay alive =) ~ Forever True Phrase : A Dead Rogue = 0 Dps ~

Lucifelos Ver.2 :: 15/31/5 Combat Dagger (4 Lethality/ 5 Opportunity) . I'm still in the process of maximizing this build abilities, but so far it is great for PvE, I can farm a lot more easier and it helps me actually doing some damage in raiding. Trust me, SnD + Blade Furry + Adrenaline Rush = Pwnage Damage.

Lucifelos Ver.3 :: 17/3/31 Prem. Hemo PvP - This is my newest build due to me wanting to PvP so bad, I couldn't resist it. Hemo is a VERY interesting build for PvP. It doesn't have as much burst dmg as its daggers' builds cousins, but I can make sure they're stunned for 15+ seconds. That being said...BURN THEM DOWN. So far I've been able to use it quite fine for 1 v 1, but when it comes to group, I still need more practices. This build is specced for PvP so in raiding I do less dmg than my first two builds. Though I love this one for PvP so far, and yes, I need a new computer xDD.

Fire Resist

Target fire resist for Molten Core is right around 225. That said, it's easy to go way above that number and gimp yourself on other stats. It's also easy to survive the entire instance (except Ragnaros) with much less. Your first 150 should come pretty easy. Getting to 200 takes a bit of time, mainly gaining reputation and finishing your Hydraxian quest line. At this point, you'll start grabbing pieces that lower your FR a bit in exchange for stats. Below is a step by step about getting your FR up.

1) Build your Volcanic Set of pants, chest, and shoulders. 58 FR right there. Despite the fact that this stuff is green, you will get serious milage out of this stuff. The legs and chest carry some of the highest FR in the game for those slots.

2) Coffer runs. There are 2 +20 fire resist enchants with the Libram of Resilliance + Burning Essence + Black Diamond + 30g. Slap your first one on your Volcanic Pants. These will be the pants you kill Rag with. If your second +20 comes easily, slap it on what you have for your headpiece. The perfect situation is to put it on your Nightslayer Cover...it's the best balance between keeping stats and gettign fire resist. Both Seanpile and I already have ours, increasing the chances you get it when it drops.

3. Watch the AH for rings and trinkets. Pretty simple.

4. If you haven't started your Hydraxian Quests, do so today. There's a string that will come naturally in your trips through Molten Core without you even thinking about it. It takes a number of MC runs to gain the reputation, collecting quest items from the bosses, etc. It eventually leads to the Ocean's Breeze ring, a 15 FR, 4 STR, 7 AGI, 4 STA ring. Reading Thott (Docadus) - this seems to begin with Poisoned Water at Duke Hydraxis in Aszhara. I just add that here, because it's one of those non-obvious prerequisites.

5. Ony Attunement. The Drakefire Amulet is neckpiece with 15 FR, 10 STA. It's a miserable quest chain, but you kill a few birdies with one stone here. Nice FR + the chance to see Ony. There are plenty of guildies working towards this right now. Keep your eyes peeled.

Docadus - I'm one of them. I have the crumpled note and will try to move this forward this weekend. Reading Thottbot, it looks like the step The Great Masquerade may be bugged.

6. Pyrogard Emberseer in UBRS drops a +20 FR cape on a 20% chance. Adding +7 FR enchant to whatever cape you are currently using is pretty simple.

7. Your Royal Seal of Eldre'Thalas. +10 FR.

Visit http://www.shadowpanther.net and go to the Fire Resist section for an interesting breakdown of FR gear. If you study this work closely you'll understand that 355 is technically feasible, 256 is for noobs, and 227 is the perfect realistic balance of keeping your stats while avoiding getting hot.

Crafting and Enchants

Jzershua can make the entire Volcanic set. Send her mats.
Seanpile & Javert usually have the mats for the +20FR enchants. Send 30g + 1x Libram of Resilliance per enchant. (You can do one leg enchant and one helm enchant for a total of +40FR.)
Horuss can put together Greater Fire Resist potions. 1x Dreamfoil, 1x Elemental Fire, 1x Crystal Vial.

Rogue Guide to MC

Addons
CTRaid and Teamspeak are required. It's not important that you talk, but you should be listening.
We use /roguesknow for our rogue channel in MC. Do a /join roguesknow. This is where we have funny conversations about Mages and their DPS.

Packing List
Healing pots and bandages.
Fire resist gear.
You repaired, right?
Ranged weapon of choice with arrows/bullets. Yep, we go ranged for a fight.
Greater Fire Protection pots. With my 225 FR, I probably go through 5 for the first 9 bosses. For Rag, you need a bunch more.
Have a few gold on you for repairs. The raid will occasionally use repair bots during the raid. Yep, they charge. You'll pick up some gold from bosses.
Eternal Quinessence. If you have finished your Hydraxian quest line, you get some water to put out the fires throughout MC. Pack it if you have it.

Invites, Attendance, Waitlists
Invites are handled by the class leader (CL) for the raid. Javert, Horuss, and Seanpile share these duties along the way. We typically get our invite from the raid leader (RL) at around 6:30 and go down the list. MC lineups are posted to the forums in the "Rogues" category. Be ready and in the instance early. Assume the first pull is at 7:00.

During the raid, pay attention. We typically go without breaks because 40 different interpretations of "5 minutes" stretches to a 15 minute AFK mess every time. I quickly grab bio breaks right after a wipe as it takes a few minutes before rogues get rezzed anyway. If you need to go AFK, a) let us know in /roguesknow and b) go autofollow on a priest (and let them know). As your CL, I get really, really fussy if an AFK rogue is holding things up. It's rare, but if it's a problem, I'll boot you. Sometimes connections get screwy and you dissconnect. It's understood. If it becomes a huge problem (you are disconnecting frequently or haven't returned in a while) I'm going to replace you. Nothing personal. ***ADDED by Kitti*** Do your best to not fall asleep. If you feel yourself nodding off, let the CL know and then leave the riad and the instance. It is hard to replace you when you are stuck in the instance and asleep at the keyboard.

The CL has a plan for standby folks. If you are online, didn't start the raid, and are interested in running, /w Persimmon waitlist. This will put you on a list so that we know who is available and interested. I will still go by my priority set up in the forums, /w Persimmon waitlist helps us to know who's currently online.

Filling empty slots and/or replacing people that have left the raid is discussed between CL's and approved by the RL. It's usually determined on the fly to help balance classes or prepare for an upcoming boss.

If you need a summon, /w one of the locks. Don't call out over TS or /raid for a summon.

Advice
Important general rules.
1) Wait for attack orders from the tanks. It will hurt if you are early. Dargarian will yell and scream. Everybody will laugh at you. Sometimes the tanks forget to give attack orders. That's when you stand back and laugh at them.
2) Better to be 5 seconds late to the fight than .5 seconds early. After about 50 trips through MC you will understand your timing well enough to anticipate attack orders and be there right away. Until you are completely comfortable with MC, don't be afraid to sit arrive late to the fights. Seriously.
3) Don't expect heals. Learn to step back and bandage when necessary. Never, ever call out for a heal.
4) When it comes to buffs, rezzes, decursing, please don't ask. Assume that they know their class and will take care of it. There are very few times when you might need to nudge somebody and remind them. Be discrete, like a rogue.

Trash Mobs
Giants: They come in pairs. Wait for attack order, MT target first, OT target second.

Lava Spawns: Big guy comes along, tank grabs. Little guys spawn. We attack when the first little guy shows and our job is to focus on the little guys as soon as they appear. Slacking wipes raids.

Doggies: MT grabs aggro, spins the so their back is to the raid. We approach from behind and go to town. Stay behind these guys.

Big Rock Trash: Start thrashing on these guys as soon as the MT engages them. There's no need to wait for MT to get aggro.

Imps: Let the folks with AOE handle these stuff. I usually just watch.

Doggie Packs: 5 dogs need to go down together, within 10 seconds of each other. Wait for attack orders, burry yourself in the middle of this pack. Watch their health meters and switch as necessary to balance things out. Keep stabbing until they completely dissappear.

Lava Packs: After boss 4, we start clearing out lava packs. Gangs of two fiery guys and two rock guys. Max FR gear. Start at the back, move up when the MT calls for attack. MT fiery guy down first, OT fiery guy second, then the rock guys are unbanished and finished off.

Bosses
Lucifron: Regular gear. Start from back of cave. The MT will take Luci up the hill to the right. Two OTs will pull the adds down to the bottom of the cave. It's important to be patient and stay at the bottom. The tanks will get feared, the adds will run around for a bit. Mass chaos ensues. Focus on bringing down the first OT target, then the second OT target. We then run up the hill and, approach Luci, open up on her from behind.

Magmadar: Full FR gear. The key to this fight is endurance. Pop a Greater Fire Protection pot early during the setup. (The cooldowns on FR pots also put your healing pot on cooldown...grab them early in the setup.) Right on the pull, we run down the edges of the cave and make sure we get to the back. Wait for attack orders. It takes a while. Stay to the back/sides of Magmadar. The fire pot and your FR gear will abosorb much of the fire damage. I use the fire pot much like I would a healing pot in this fight. There's usually a druid throwing heals at us from behind. We also get pally "Judgement of Light" while beating on Mag. You'll end up getting feared over and over and over and over. Take this time to watch your health, check to see if your fire pot has worn of, and rebandage yourself if necessary. Again, this is an endurance fight. Patience and healing yourself when necessary.

Gehennas: Mix and match your FR. This fight is identical to Luci. Two adds go down first, then to the boss. The boss throws a bit of fire damage out. Try to keep yourself spread out when tickling the boss on this one. Pretty straight forward fight.

Garr: 8 adds, 1 boss. :o) 4 adds are banished, 4 are tanked. Our job is to take down the first 4 in the order they show up in CTRA. When they get to about 15%, move the heck away. They explode and take you with them. After we clear 4, it's time for Garr. Stand directly underneath Garr and backstab. If you are between his rocky legs, he can't touch you. :O) Garr doesn't explode. When Garr is done, the other 4 adds are unbanished and taken down one by one.

Geddon: Max FR. If you are lower than 160 FR, stand back with the mages and go ranged this fight. Greater than 160 and feeling happy? On attack orders, go in an beat on boss. When the "pulses" start, run away. The boss will pulse 9 times, each pulse causing more and more damage. If you aren't far enough away on the 9th pulse, dirt nap. Check your health and head back in if you can. The key to this fight is timing. Get in, unleash, get out, check health, bandage, figure out when next pulse is coming, do I have enough time to get in? Oh yeah, for good measure, somebody is randomly selected as "the bomb" every once in a while. If you are turned into "the bomb" run to the back or sides of the cave ASAP. You will blow up. If you are around others, you will blow them up. Sometimes you live, sometimes you die.

Shazzrah: Dual wielding bandages. Seriously. You are a healer in this fight. Practice applying bandages to others. Stand behind a mage or hunter in your group and throw them heals if they get low. Seriously. If Shaz end up blinking into your party, do not run away. Run towards the center.

Sulfuron: We stand at the top of the hill in the "kill zone" The first three adds are tanked up the hill to us. The key is to get them up the hill as far as possible. If we run down and start thrashing on them, the tanks stop moving up, the adds begin healing eachother, and we have a wipe. Once the add is at the top, stab and kick as much as possible. I think it's mind numbing poison that drops the healing affects on them as well. These adds go down really fast if we are doing the job right and not letting them heal. After three adds are down, we move down to the 4th add, finish it, and then move on to the boss. Once we get past the first 3 adds, this fight is simple.

Golemagg: MT brings the boss up to the group. We start thrashing on attack orders. The key here is to watch the debuff the boss will put on you. It stacks and lasts :25 each time it restacks. You can stand about 4 or 5 of these before you need to back off and wait out the timer on the debuff. If you wait too long and let them stack more than 5, you won't last too long. When this boss gets to 15%, we back off and go ranged for the last part of the fight. Easy fight.

Majordomo: Still learning this fight, honestly. Pop a Greater Fire Protection pot during the setup. There are a whole mess of adds. From a rogue perspective, we follow whatever target the OT in this fight is choosing (that will be the top one in the CTRA list). Our job is to bring these down as fast as possible. They throw up two types of "shields" that CTRA will warn you about. You will get a message "5 seconds until powers", this warns you that something is coming. If it's a "damage shield", stop attacking immediately. It will trash you. If it's a "magic shield", keep pounding away. Always stay on that top target in CTRA. Every once in a while (once a fight usually) you will get ported to the fire pit. Get out ASAP. That's why you poppped the fire pot before the fight.

Ragnaros: http://www.pacifistguild.org/ragnaros. Enough said. Read the strategy, watch the movie. You will probably need to wipe a few times to better learn.
